The Administration for Community Living, an organization of the Health and Human Services Department, has announced the theme for Older Americans Month 2014.
The United States each May celebrates Older Americans Month to recognize older Americans for their contributions and provide them with information to stay healthy and active.
This year the organization is focusing on injury prevention with the theme “Safe Today. Healthy Tomorrow.”
Older adults are at a much higher risk of unintentional injury, which can result in millions of medically treated injuries and more than 30,000 deaths each year, according to ACL. Injury can happen when you live in a home with too much clutter. After years and years of accumulating precious items, it is hard to let go. Let a professional Senior Move Manager help you or a loved one reduce the amount of clutter in their home.
Sherry Brown is a proud member of the National Association of Senior Move Managers (NASMM). The National Association of Senior Move Managers is a not-for-profit, professional association of organizations dedicated to assisting older adults and families with the physical and emotional demands of downsizing, relocating, or modifying their homes. The senior move industry is relatively new, but the challenge of transitioning an older adult is not. As the only professional association in the country devoted to helping the rapidly increasing 55+ population with middle and later life transition issues, NASMM members are committed to maximizing the dignity and autonomy of all older adults.
Stay Safe Today, Healthy Tomorrow by organizing your space this May for Older Americans month.
